General Secretariat - Hong Kong
Mr John Lee, CEO of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, received His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), today, Thursday, April 25, 2024, in Hong Kong City.

At the beginning of the meeting, the CEO of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region expressed gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency the Secretary General for this visit, affirming that this meeting, which follows their previous meeting at the General Secretariat's headquarters last year, will be a strong driver for enhancing and developing relations between the two sides.

"There are many investment and economic opportunities in Hong Kong City that serve the common interests of both sides," the CEO of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region stressed.

Meanwhile, His Excellency the Secretary General pointed out that during the meeting, the cooperation between the GCC member states and Hong Kong was reviewed, especially in economic and investment aspects.

He also stated that the GCC countries always seek to establish economic links with countries and organisations around the world, underlining that signing free trade agreements with several states would lead to achieving many benefits for both sides.

He concluded his statement by stating that, in light of the many opportunities available to develop relations between the two sides in the economic, investment, and trade fields, the two parties agreed to move forward with organising an economic event in Hong Kong in the first quarter of next year, inviting senior officials from both the government and private sectors, with the aim of consolidating and enhancing relations in this aspect.
