His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the convening of the Syrian National Dialogue Conference, considering it a serious and valuable step towards contributing to the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people for security, stability, and prosperity.
His Excellency the Secretary General expressed his hope that the conference would help outline the framework for a comprehensive political solution that includes all segments of the Syrian people, based on the rule of law and equal citizenship, while preserving Syria's unity and sovereignty.
He also praised what was stated in the conference's final statement, which expressed the sincere desire of the participants to reach comprehensive political solutions, emphasising the importance of continuing such dialogues to enhance national consensus in Syria.
Moreover, His Excellency the Secretary General reaffirmed the positions of the GCC as stated in the statement issued by the extraordinary 46th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council which underscored respect for Syria's sovereignty and independence, supporting a comprehensive political transition that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people, in addition to confirming national reconciliation as a cornerstone for rebuilding the state and ensuring its stability.
