His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the Cooperation Council is keen to participate in the Asian Financial Forum 2025, which offers numerous opportunities for discussing financial issues and global economic challenges, as well as presenting solutions and finding initiatives and ​ideas that will contribute to revitalising economies in the region.

This was during his participation in the opening session of the Asian Financial Forum 2025 on Monday (January 13, 2025) in Hong Kong, with the presence of a number of ministers, senior officials, policy-makers, investors and businessmen from over 50 countries, in the period from January 13 to 14, 2025.

HE the Secretary General stated that the General Secretariat’s participation of the Council in this forum comes from its keenness to know about the latest developments in the regional and global financial scene, which can be beneficial for developing and enhancing the financial sector, and which positively reflects on their economies.

He added that for the first time, the forum will witness a special panel discussion session dealing with the GCC states on January 14, 2025, which will be jointly organised by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority the Hong Kong Treasury and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

His Excellency stated that this joint session comes within the continued efforts of the Cooperation Council member states and Hong Kong to cooperate and strengthen financial and economic ties in areas of investment and trade between the two sides.
