His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the restructuring of the strategy of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) and the evaluation of its affiliated offices will contribute to strengthening and developing joint Gulf education to keep pace with current and future developments in this field.
This came during His Excellency's meeting with the team studying the restructuring of the strategy of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, headed by Dr Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Asmi, Director-General of the Bureau, on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
His Excellency affirmed that the education and higher education sector receives significant attention from Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC countries. Moreover, His Excellency commended the high levels achieved by the GCC countries in this field, which has enabled them to lead international and regional indicators in education and higher education.
During the meeting, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General also listened to the team's presentation of the objectives of restructuring the strategy and the related dimensions of the Bureau and its affiliated centres.
This initiative responds to the decision of Their Excellencies, the Ministers of Education of the GCC countries, in their eighth meeting held in the State of Qatar in June 2024, which tasked the Arab Bureau of Education with preparing this study .
