His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with His Excellency Mr Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on Friday (September 27, 2024) on the sidelines of His Excellency's participation in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States.

At the beginning of the meeting, HE the Secretary General praised Uzbekistan's role in convening the second joint ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue in Tashkent, as well as the initiatives it presented in preparation for the upcoming summit scheduled to be held in Samarkand next year, 2025.

During the meeting, various topics were discussed, and the joint action plan between the GCC and Central Asian countries for the period 2023-2027 was reviewed. This plan includes enhancing cooperation in a number of key areas, including political and security dialogue, economic, commercial, and investment cooperation, education, health, as well as cultural, media, youth, and sports fields. Both sides emphasised the importance of advancing this plan to achieve mutual interests.
