His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, met today, Thursday, April 10, 2025, with His Excellency Mr Christopher Landau, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, in the U.S. capital, Washington.

During the meeting, they reviewed the various aspects of Gulf-American relations, in addition to regional and international issues, foremost among them the developments in the Gaza Strip. Both sides stressed the importance of de-escalation, ensuring the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid, and working towards calming efforts.

His Excellency the GCC Secretary General reaffirmed the steadfast position of the GCC countries in support of the Palestinian cause and the necessity of working diligently to relaunch the peace process in accordance with international references and the Arab Peace Initiative, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They also discussed ways to enhance GCC-American relations and priorities for joint action through joint ministerial meetings and specialised working groups, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation in all agreed-upon areas within the framework of the strategic partnership between the GCC and the United States. Moreover, both sides expressed their commitment to continue coordination and address common challenges in a manner that serves the strategic interests of both parties.

His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi referred to the statement issued from the joint ministerial meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the GCC and the United States (September 2024), in which the ministers affirmed their joint determination to build closer relations in all areas, including defense and security cooperation, as well as to develop a collective approach to regional issues. He highlighted the significant importance that the GCC countries place on their relationships with the United States at all levels.
