His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the GCC-Iraqi relations are strong, noting the aspiration of both sides to enhance the existing cooperation in a way that benefits both parties according to their common interests.


This came during his Excellency's meeting with a delegation from the Parliament of the Republic of Iraq, headed by Shaikh Shaalan Abdul Jabbar Ali Al Karim,  and the membership of Mr. Karim Alaiwi, Mr. Jahoush Hasanein Al Khafaji, and Dr. Yaseen Al Aythawi, today, Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh.

His Excellency emphasised during the meeting that the stability of the Republic of Iraq, the preservation of the integrity and unity of its lands and its full sovereignty, its Arab identity, its social fabric, and its national unity have a priority and importance for the Council's states due to the fraternal relations and bonds of common cooperation that bind them.

This is the matter that was also underscored in the statement issued by the Ministerial Council in its 160th session on the constant positions and decisions of the Council's states towards the brotherly Iraq, and support for all ongoing efforts to achieve security and stability in Iraq, His Excellency highlighted. 

Meanwhile, several topics of mutual interest were discussed, in addition to following up on the latest developments regionally and internationally as well as exchanging views on them.​
