General Secretariat - Riyadh

His Excellency Mr. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed deep concern over the military escalation taking place in the Lebanese Republic, calling on all concerned parties to exercise maximum self-restraint to spare the region and its peoples the risks and consequences of war.

He emphasised the need to comply with Security Council Resolution 2735 issued on June 10 this year, regarding the cessation of hostilities and the termination of all military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Moreover, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General also condemned the declaration by the Israeli occupation forces of a plan to launch an attack on Lebanon, stressing the need to implement Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for the cessation of all military operations in Lebanon.

He affirmed the firm position of the Cooperation Council towards Lebanon, in accordance with what was approved by the Supreme Council of the GCC in its 44th session (December 2023 - Doha), regarding the Cooperation Council's stand with the brotherly Lebanese people and its continued support for Lebanon's sovereignty, security, stability and territorial integrity.
