HE Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the announcement made today by Mr. Hans Grundberg, Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations to Yemen, on the extension of the truce for an additional two months, according to the same provisions of the original agreement that came into force on April 2, 2022.

HE the Secretary General stressed that the agreement to extend the truce reflects the importance the international community dedicates to the Yemeni crisis, praising the efforts of Mr. Grundberg and the leadership of the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy and all parties in extending the truce, which will result in continuing to create the atmosphere for the Yemeni parties to start the political process and reach comprehensive peace that achieves security and stability in the brotherly Yemen.
