HE Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stressed the significance of the participation of international bodies and organisations in supporting development efforts and humanitarian aid in brotherly Yemen.
HE the Secretary General’s statements came as he received at his office in the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh today (April 6, 2022), HE Mr. Ferid Belhaj, World Bank Vice President for Middle East and North Africa, in the presence of HE Ms. Tania Meyer, World Bank Country Manager for Yemen, and HE Mr. Essam Abu Suleiman, World Bank Regional Director for the GCC.
Dr Al Hajraf valued the presence of the World Bank delegation in the Yemeni consultations under the patronage of the GCC, hosted by the General Secretariat from March 29, 2022, to April 7, 2022.
HE the Secretary General emphasised on the role of the World Bank and its contributions in supporting and stabilising Yemen and restoring peace to its people, and the importance of benefiting from the Yemeni consultations to enhance and advance the areas of development and humanitarian and social assistance in brotherly Yemen.
The officials also discussed and reviewed areas of cooperation between the GCC and the World Bank through joint studies, research papers and technical teams, in addition to collective benefit to enhance the means for development, aid and financing flows for the Republic of Yemen.
