​HE Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has condemned in the strongest terms the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli police and special forces and attacking the worshipers at dawn today, Friday, April 15, 2022, which led to the injury of about 152 worshipers and the arrest of hundreds. HE Dr Al Hajraf termed the incident as a blatant violation, condemnable and unacceptable behaviour and a dangerous escalation.


Furthermore, HE the Secretary General stressed the need for Israel to respect the historical and legal situation in the occupied Jerusalem and its sanctities as well as to stop all illegal measures, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities to preserve the safety of Al Aqsa Mosque and the worshipers. Furthermore, HE Dr Al Hajraf urged Israel to abide by its obligations as an occupying power in accordance with international humanitarian law.
