HE Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stressed the support of the GCC states to the international efforts in dealing with the FSO Safer oil tanker and the necessity of pushing and accelerating these efforts. At the same time, HE the Secretary General reiterated the GCC countries’ continuous support to alleviate the human suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people.

Dr Al Hajraf’s statements came as he received at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh today (April 10, 2022), HE Mr. David Gressly, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, and Mr. Tim Lenderking, the US envoy to Yemen and the accompanying delegation. 

During the meeting, the officials discussed the efforts of humanitarian organisations in brotherly Yemen and strengthening joint coordination to support regional and international efforts in conjunction with the armistice.

The plan of the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen to deal with the the FSO Safer oil tanker was also reviewed during the meeting, in order to avoid an imminent environmental and economic disaster if it was not timely dealt with.
