​Their Highnesses and Excellencies the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the President of the European Council stressed the importance of GCC-European relations and expressed keenness to develop them in all fields.


This has been highlighted during a meeting held at the headquarters of the European Union (EU) in Brussels today (Monday February 21, 2022), where the GCC side was headed by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs (Chairman of the current session), while the European side was headed by HE Mr. Charles Michel, President of the European Council. 

The meeting was held in the presence of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the foreign ministers of the GCC states and their representatives; HE Mr. Mohammed Al Sahlawi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Belgium, HE Dr Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, HE Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, HE Mr. Sultan Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, HE Shaikh Dr Ahmed Nasser Al Mohammed Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, and HE Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the GCC.
 
The meeting discussed means to enhance relations between the GCC and the EU in all fields, including building close relations between GCC countries and the EU in a wide range of fields, including political dialogue, security, foreign policy, trade, investment, development, energy, combating terrorism and enhancing security and stability.
