Their Excellencies the Ministers of Islamic affairs and Endowments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held their eighth meeting, today, Thursday, October 13, 2022, via video communication. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Shaikh Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the current session, with the participation of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Matar Salem Al Kaabi, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Excellency Mr. Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Said Khalfan Al Mamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Mr. Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Eng. Farid Asad Emadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of the State of Kuwait, and His Excellency Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the GCC.
During the meeting, a number of important topics that have a prominent role in supporting the process of joint cooperation among the GCC member states in the fields of Islamic affairs and endowments were discussed, including reviewing the Ministerial Council’s decision at its 153rd session on the protection of moral, religious and family values in the Gulf societies.
Moreover, several decisions were issued during the meeting in the forefront of which is the adoption of the guiding mechanism for cooperation between the ministries and bodies of endowments, Islamic and religious affairs in the GCC countries in the field of Islamic affairs, and the adoption of the guiding future vision for the ministries of endowments, Islamic and religious affairs in the GCC. Additionally, Their Excellencies approved adopting a counter-terrorism paper, and gave the green-light to the proposal to establish an international day for the Islamic endowment.
They also agreed to adopt a paper for hosting personalities as well as another paper for the use of social media, in addition to a paper on the most prominent issues raised about Islam in the modern era. They also approved the topics of the 2023 interactive symposium.
