His Excellency Mr Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Council member states and the International Astronautical Federation, as well as exploring ways to structure joint work in this field between the two parties.

This came during his meeting with His Excellency Mr. Clay Mowry, President of the International Astronautical Federation, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on the sidelines of His Excellency the Secretary General's participation in the sixth edition of the International Space Forum.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, most notably ways to enhance the prospects of cooperation relations between the Council member states and the International Astronautical Federation, in addition to exploring the mechanisms of this cooperation during the coming period.

Moreover, His Excellency stressed during the meeting that the Cooperation Council countries are moving steadily towards developing their space-navigation-related capabilities, including elevating their human resources, entering into regional and international partnerships, and exploring investment opportunities in this sector. 

He explained that the International Astronautical Federation has become one of the entities and tributaries that can be relied upon and benefited from to upgrade the diverse capabilities of the countries.​
