His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), condemned the blatant attack targeting the headquarters of the UAE Ambassador in the Republic of Sudan, which resulted in significant damage to the building. His Excellency called on the Sudanese government to make every effort to protect diplomatic facilities and their personnel.
Moreover, His Excellency emphasised that this attack represents a gross violation of the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic premises, while also stressing the importance of protecting diplomatic buildings and the premises of embassy staff according to the norms and conventions that govern and regulate diplomatic work.
His Excellency expressed his strong condemnation of this attack and the GCC’s steadfast and permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism that aim to undermine security and stability and are inconsistent with international law.
Furthermore, His Excellency referred to the statements in the ministerial declaration of the GCC countries, which reaffirmed the Council's consistent positions and decisions regarding the importance of maintaining the sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity of Sudan.
He urged the Sudanese government and the Rapid Support Forces to engage seriously and effectively with initiatives to resolve the crisis, including the Jeddah platform and neighbouring countries.
