His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with His Excellency Mr Mohamed Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, on Monday (September 23, 2024) at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, various topics were discussed, most notably the mutual desire of both sides to enhance relations in various fields and to move forward with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the GCC and Malaysia.
Preparations for the upcoming summit between the GCC and ASEAN were also discussed, which is scheduled to be held in Malaysia in 2025, as agreed upon by the leaders during their first summit in Jeddah last year.
The work of specialised technical teams in the areas of cooperation outlined in the framework of joint collaboration was also addressed.
