General Secretariat – Riyadh

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Dr Jean-Marc Thouvenin, Secretary General of The Hague Academy of International Law, signed a training agreement between the two sides today, Wednesday, May 7, 2025, to hold an intensive training programme next November, entitled "Economic Aspects in the Integration and Interconnection of Justice, Legislation, and Judiciary."

In this context, His Excellency the Secretary General said that this cooperation is the first of its kind between the General Secretariat and the Academy, praising The Hague Academy of International Law as a prestigious educational and research institution specialising in international law, as well as its significant role in providing specialised training courses and academic programmes in law in all its fields, as well as being a platform for dialogue between different cultures and legal systems.

Moreover, His Excellency pointed out that the training programme agreement signed today targets specialists from the Ministries of Economy, Ministries of Planning, Ministries of Justice, and Departments of Fatwa and Legislation in the GCC countries, to learn about the experiences of various regional groupings such as the European Union, the African Union, ASEAN, and Latin American countries. The programme will be presented by a selection of specialised academics from prestigious international universities.
