His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), praised the role of the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in monitoring facilities, activities, and practices that utilise these techniques to ensure the highest safety standards are applied. 

His Excellency also stressed the importance of ensuring the security of nuclear and radiological facilities and materials, and upholding guarantees on nuclear materials to meet Saudi Arabia's commitments in international treaties and agreements of which it is a party.

These remarks were made by His Excellency during his visit to the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Committee in Saudi Arabia, where he was welcomed by the Committee's CEO, Dr Khalid Al Issa, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Riyadh.

Moreover, His Excellency stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and joint coordination between the GCC through the GCC Emergency Management Centre and the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Committee to achieve the desired objectives. 

Moreover, His Excellency noted that discussions were held on ways to strengthen collaboration between the two sides, conduct joint activities and mutual field visits, and organise joint training sessions for citizens of the GCC countries.

His Excellency also toured the Committee, where he learned about the latest technologies and the operations at the Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Operations Centre. 

At the end of his visit, His Excellency expressed his appreciation for the work of the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Committee in addressing nuclear and radiological emergencies and promoting the culture of nuclear safety to ensure security, protection, and regulation of activities, practices, and facilities related to these uses.
