His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Her Excellency Barbara Leaf, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, held a telephone conversation on Thursday, January 9, 2025, to discuss support for regional stability and security.

During the call, His Excellency the Secretary General affirmed the GCC's support for all efforts aimed at achieving stability, prosperity, and security in regional and international issues, particularly the situation in Gaza.  He stressed the necessity of halting Israeli occupation forces' violations and resolving the crisis in accordance with international and UN resolutions.

Meanwhile, both sides reviewed regional and international efforts aimed at restoring the unity, sovereignty, and security of Syria.  His Excellency the GCC Secretary General highlighted the GCC's support for all efforts to achieve a comprehensive and inclusive transitional process that brings stability, development, and security to the Syrian people.

Regarding Lebanon, both sides welcomed the election of a new president and expressed hope that this positive step would contribute to Lebanon's stability and security, leading to prosperity and development for the Lebanese people.

The call also included an exchange of views on the latest regional developments and a discussion of ways to enhance cooperation between the GCC and the United States.
