General Secretariat – Riyadh

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirmed the prominent role and valuable contributions of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) in regulating intellectual property fields within the Kingdom.

He highlighted SAIP's continued efforts towards progress and excellence in protecting intellectual property rights through cooperation and support for relevant entities, elevating them according to global best practices.

This statement was made during His Excellency's visit to the SAIP headquarters in Riyadh on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.  He was received by His Excellency Dr Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Swailem, CEO of SAIP.

His Excellency also praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's regional and global standing in protecting intellectual property rights, and its inclusion within the Kingdom's Vision 2030.  He emphasised the Kingdom's significant efforts to strengthen intellectual property rights protection through the development of systems and laws, and by raising awareness of the importance of these rights in supporting economic and social development, solidifying its position as a leading nation in this field.

His Excellency also expressed his hope, during the visit, to enhance joint cooperation between the two parties in various intellectual property fields and related policies at both bilateral and regional levels, and to explore ways to benefit from services related to patent applications filed with the patent office at the GCC General Secretariat.
