The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an Arab Islamic state with complete sovereignty. Its religion is Islam, its constitution is the Book of God Almighty and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace. Its language is Arabic, and its capital is the city of Riyadh. The system of government in the Kingdom is monarchical, and rule rests with the sons of the founding king, Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Faisal Al Saud, and his sons’ sons, and the fittest among them pledge allegiance to rule according to the Book of God Almighty and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace. Governance in the Kingdom derives its authority from the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, which govern this system and all state systems. Governance is based on justice, consultation, and equality in accordance with Islamic law.
The Kingdom is located in the far southwest of the continent of Asia, and is bordered to the west by the Red Sea, to the east by the Arabian Gulf, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, to the north by Kuwait, Iraq and Jordan, and to the south by Yemen and the Sultanate of Oman. The Kingdom occupies four-fifths of the Arabian Peninsula with an area estimated at more than 2,250,000 square kilometers.
