  HE GCCSG Receives Outgoing Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Occasion of the Conclusion of his Tenure

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received His Excellency Mr Chen Weiqing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday (March 26, 2024) at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh on the occasion of the end of his term of office.


During the meeting, the officials reviewed ways of enhancing cooperation and friendship relations between the GCC and China in various fields, as well as the latest developments in free trade negotiations between the two sides. They emphasised their mutual keenness to strengthen and develop trade and economic relations, and the importance of implementing the joint action plan for the period (2023-2027). Developments in the political and security situation in a number of regional and international issues were also discussed and reviewed.

HE the Secretary General concluded his statement by expressing the aspiration of the GCC countries to achieve many important obligations between the two sides for the year 2024, including holding the joint ministerial meeting for the strategic dialogue between the Cooperation Council and the Republic of China, in addition to holding the first forum of its kind between the two sides on industry and investment, as well as holding the first Chinese Gulf Forum on the peaceful uses of nuclear technology. His Excellency stressed that these benefits are a clear indication of the great progress, high coordination, and fruitful joint cooperation that Gulf-Chinese relations have reached.
