  HE the GCCSG Receives Gulf Press Union President and Members

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received a delegation from the Gulf Press Union on Wednesday (February 21, 2024). The delegation included Mr Khalid Hamad Al Malik, Honorary President, Mr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, President, Mr Isa Ali Al Shaiji, Vice President and Secretary General, Mr Adnan Khalifa Al Rashed, Chairman of the Dispute Resolution Committee, and Mr Fawaz Ahmed Sulaiman, Executive Director. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

At the beginning of the meeting, HE the Secretary General congratulated the Union members on the occasion of announcing the establishment of the Gulf Press Union last January in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

His Excellency praised the goals for which the Union was established, which seek to advance Gulf journalistic work, achieve more gains for journalism, preserve the rights of journalists and media professionals, facilitate communication with regional and international journalistic organisations, and implement projects that are in the interest of advancing journalists, journalism, and the media in the GCC countries.

Ways of enhancing cooperation between the General Secretariat and the Gulf Press Union were also discussed during the meeting.
