  The GCC Interior Ministers discuss the Security Measures taken as Part of the Efforts to limit the spread of the Coronavirus

The GCC Ministers of Interior held on Tuesday, April 7 2020, an urgent meeting via visual communication. The meeting chaired by HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, President of the current session, and with the participation of HE Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf.
Their Highnesses and Excellencies, the GCC Interior Ministers expressed their thanks and appreciation for the kind invitation of HH Lt. Gen.  Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, President of the current session, to hold this emergency meeting via visual communication to see the latest developments in the GCC states confronting the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) and to discuss security measures taken as part of the efforts to limit its spread.
Their Highnesses and Excellencies the GCC Interior Ministers discussed a number of important security issues related to this pandemic and ways to confront it and limit its spread. In this regard, the ministers agreed that the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council would coordinate to hold a meeting of representatives of the ministries of interior of the member states whenever necessary, through visual communication to coordinate security efforts to limit the spread of the emerging coronavirus. The GCC Secretariat would provide all the member states ministries of interior with the information it receives from the Ministry of Interior in any member state about the precautionary security measures taken to limit the spread of the emerging coronavirus. They also agreed to take advantage of successful international experiences in applying security precautions and control mechanisms to limit the spread of the virus. The Ministers affirmed the previously agreed upon not to allow any citizen to leave to any other country except with the same document in which he entered into the GCC states (specifically the passport) when resuming flights.
Their Highnesses and Excellencies, the Interior Ministers appreciated the efforts made by the GCC states in dealing with the emerging coronavirus, through precautionary measures in parallel with the health preventive measures through land and air ports, in order to preserve the safety of citizens, residents and mobile people between the countries of the Council.
The GCC Ministers expressed their thanks and appreciation to the medical and technical cadres in the GCC states and all countries of the world for their great efforts in confronting the emerging coronavirus and striving to save lives.
The GCC Interior Ministers praised the tireless efforts made by the representatives of the security and military sectors in the GCC states and their tangible contribution to curbing the spread of the virus. They called for more adherence to the precautionary measures to achieve the highest levels of prevention and limit the spread of the virus.
Their Highnesses and Excellencies, the GCC Ministers also expressed their thanks to the GCC secretariat for what it is doing in the framework of cooperation and coordination between the security services in the GCC states, fighting the Coronavirus.
