In a statement during the 20th meeting of the ministers and heads of civil service authorities of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in the Qatari capital, Doha, His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, stressed the significant efforts made by civil service agencies in the member states towards civil service enhancement and human resource development, adding that their endeavour have vastly contributed to boosting the GCC joint action in order to accomplish the objectives in this field  as per the directives of Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC member states.

The meeting, chaired by His Excellency Mr Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau of Qatar, brought together ministers and heads of civil service agencies from across the GCC.

In his opening remarks, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General expressed his deepest gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, for his continuous support and the collaborative efforts of the GCC leaders. He noted that these efforts have substantially contributed to advancing joint GCC action to achieve the desired objectives in this sector.

He highlighted the profound impact of the directives from the GCC leaders, which have played a crucial role in promoting this noble mission.

HE the Secretary General pointed out that the GCC countries have consistently achieved high rankings globally, placing them at the forefront in the Arab world, as reflected in the 2024 World Competitiveness Ranking published by the Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development.

The report assesses government efficiency and infrastructure suitability for competitiveness, as well as the availability of technology and human resources to meet business sector needs.

Meanwhile, during the meeting, the ministers and heads of civil service authorities discussed various topics related to civil service and administrative development.

These topics were previously examined by the undersecretaries during their 27th preparatory meeting. Key issues included the implementation of decisions from the Supreme Council related to the committee, the completion of strategic initiatives in civil service and human resource development, and the progress of joint training programmes as well as workshops among GCC states aimed at investing in human capital.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the mechanism for implementing a practical training project, the exchange of experts, and the programme designed to honour outstanding individuals in the civil service sectors of the GCC for the year 2024.
