General Secretariat - Riyadh

On the occasion of Gulf Youth Day 2024, in its third edition, which annually falls on June 6, under the slogan "Active and Responsible Gulf Youth".

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), delivered a speech on this occasion, which read as follows:

In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful.

Today, in the GCC countries, we celebrate the third edition of the Gulf Youth Day, under the slogan "Active and Responsible Gulf Youth”, which annually falls on June 6, in fulfillment of the directives and aspirations of Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC countries to care for the youth of our countries, nurture them, hone their talents and develop their abilities, and give them priority to enable them to face the future and develop their societies, as they are the true wealth and pillar of the future of the GCC, and represent the largest percentage in its fabric and composition, being the force that pushes our society towards development, creativity, innovation, and leadership.

On this occasion, I would like to emphasise our complete conviction that the Gulf youth are aware of the message conveyed to them and the responsibility entrusted to them towards their homelands. They are determined to carry out these roles while being keen to possess the knowledge and skills that enable them to contribute to the development process. We all pray to Allah the Almighty that they will be able to lead work and participate effectively, being the pillars of the present and leaders of the future, under our wise leadership.

His Excellency also said that, in light of the many grave challenges that surround us, we have full faith in the level of awareness possessed by Gulf youth to confront these challenges, especially since they are qualified to play their role in confronting them through their competence and the capabilities provided by our GCC countries. We believe that they can become an effective and capable force working, achieving, and looking forward to a sustainable development for our Gulf societies.

HE the Secretary General also assured the youth of GCC countries that the future of our countries and their historical achievements in the Cooperation Council belong to them. We in the General Secretariat are working hard with all relevant parties in GCC countries to mobilise capabilities and efforts for empowerment and development to create a new and prosperous era with the aim of building our Gulf societies in order to achieve the goals set by the Supreme Council for establishing the Cooperation Council for the generous Gulf states.

His Excellency concluded his speech by offering his sincere thanks to Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Youth and Sports of the GCC countries, for their keenness to implement directives issued by Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC countries and for striving to overcome all obstacles and harness all capabilities to serve the youth category. His Excellency also commended the sincere efforts made by officials in ministries of youth and sports in GCC countries and their constant cooperation in serving young men and women and enhancing partnership, coordination, and integration towards achieving desired goals.
