The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr.
Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani praised the convening of the House of
Representatives in the Republic of Yemen, for the first time since the Houthi
militias’ coup against legitimacy in Yemen. He described it as an important
step towards activating the role of constitutional institutions in Yemen, and
confirms its effective political presence, and its support to the Yemeni
legitimacy led by, HE the President of the Republic of
Yemen, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
The Secretary General commended the efforts exerted by
the Yemeni government in cooperation with the political forces, and the Yemeni
society, to activate the role of this important legislative institution, and organizing
the convening of the House of Representatives, in Sayoun, Yemen. He stressed
the GCC States' support of the Yemeni parliament nationally, as well as regionally
and internationally.
Dr. Al-Zayani expressed his deep congratulations to HE
Mr. Sultan al-Borkani on his election as Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, and
wished the Parliament members all the best, achieving security, stability and
prosperity in Yemen.
