Under the
patronage of HE Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, the GCC represented
the GCC Patent Office participated in the 1st Gulf Inventors Forum in Dubai,
and the accompanying exhibition, held during the period from 3-4 May 2019, at
the University of Dubai, with the participation of a number of UAE officials in
Government Institutions and the private sector competent in this field,
representatives of the GCC Inventors Associations, Thinkers, inventors and Gulf
entrepreneurs from different specialties.
The GCCPO
participated with a paper on the efforts exerted by the Office to support the GCC
joint work through promoting the invention culture, and the GCC Patent
Registration System. The GCCPO also established a pavilion at the accompanying
exhibition to introduce the GCCPO services and answer related questions.
The GCCPO
participation comes under the guidance of HE the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation
Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, to provide all forms of support,
care and attention to the GCC inventors, implementing their Majesties and
Highnesses leaders of the GCC States, and activating the GCCPO role in
highlighting intellectual property, including patents, and promoting its
culture and importance.
The forum
dealt with a number of important issues of registration, the support and
protection of inventions, and the GCCPO role in this regard. In addition to the
success stories of inventors in the GCC States and the challenges facing them,
means of transforming the invention into a commercial product, and other issues
in various fields related to invention and intellectual property.
