The GCC Undersecretaries
Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports concluded the 35th
meeting held on Tuesday, 9 April 2019, at the Advisory Board of the Supreme
Council headquarters, in Muscat. The meeting was chaired by, HE Sheikh
Rashad Al Hinai, the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Sports Affairs, chairman
of the Committee, with the participation of their Excellencies the GCC
undersecretaries for Youth and Sports Affairs, and DR. Adel Khalifa al-Zayani,
Head of the GCC Human and Environmental Affairs Sector.
In his
opening speech, HE Sheikh Rashad Al Hinai, chairman of the Committee,
welcomed everyone, conveying the greetings of HE Sheikh Sheikh Sa'ad bin
Mohammed Al Mardhouf, Oman's Minister of Sports Affairs. He thanked their
Majesties and Highnesses, leaders of the GCC states for their unlimited support
of the GCC youth and sports journey. He as well thanked the GCC Secretariat for
their continuous efforts to follow up the implementation of their Excellencies
the GCC Ministers for Youth Affairs and Sports, which always emphasizes their
keenness to help the GCC youth in developing their abilities and talents.
He stressed
the importance of joint cooperation in youth affairs between the GCC, Kingdom
of Morocco and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, implementing this cooperation
by allowing the Jordanian and Moroccan youth to participate in the joint programs and activities approved to be held
during 2019.
He praised the efforts exerted by the ministries
of youth affairs and sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain to include the sustainable
development goals in the joint youth work by organizing the 9th International
Youth Conference, on the
margins of hosting the GCC Ministerial Committee for Youth Affairs
and Sports 31st meeting in the previous session.
During the meeting they discussed the GCC technical
committees of the Ministerial Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports work, the support of youth entrepreneurship
initiatives in the GCC states, the enhancement of the GCC Ministries of Youth Affairs and
Sports efforts, the GCC, the Kingdom of Morocco, and
the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan joint cooperation, and nominated the GCC second
category honorees and creative young people for 2019.
In his speech, Dr. Adel Khalifa al-Zayani, Head of the GCC
Human and Environmental Affairs Sector stressed the importance of this meeting,
adding that their Majesties and Highnesses, leaders of the GCC States, are keen
to give priority to youth affairs, and always ask about the progress made in
that regard.
Dr. Adel Khalifa al-Zayani added that the GCC
undersecretaries reviewed the committee's work, and followed up its
implementation during the past two years, stressing that their Excellencies have
presented their recommendations concerning the implementation of GCC youth joint
strategy, and discussed strengthening our relations with organizations and
friendly countries, especially; the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom
of Morocco. As well as supporting the youth entrepreneurship initiatives
in the GCC states, and guide the committees affiliated to the GCC Ministerial
Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports to implement all the projects submitted
during this year and next year.
He thanked the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry
concerned for their efforts in hosting these meetings.
