The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, welcomed the agreement reached between the Transitional Military Council and the Forces of Freedom and Change in the Republic of Sudan regarding the transitional arrangements. He described it as a positive and important step that will open the way for the brothers in Sudan to overcome the current conditions and embark on a new stage of security, stability and peace. 
The Secretary-General expressed the hope that the Sudanese people would go beyond this delicate stage to the beginning of a new era of freedom, justice and dignity, and establish an economic renaissance to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for development, progress and decent living.
