The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani received on Tuesday, 11 June 2019, at his office in the GCC headquarters in Riyadh, the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, HE Mr. John Abizaid.

The Secretary-General congratulated HE Mr. John Abizaid on his appointment as an Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and wished him success in his diplomatic mission to strengthen the Saudi-American relations in order to achieve the common interests of both sides.

During the meeting, they discussed the relations of joint cooperation between the GCC and the United States within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two sides, as well as means of developing these relations in various fields; In addition to the latest political and security developments in the region, and issues of common interest.

The Secretary-General praised the friendship and historic relations of cooperation between the GCC States and the United States from an advanced level to serve their common interests, maintain the security and stability of the region, and strengthening regional security and peace. He also expressed the aspiration of the GCC Stats to push the paths of joint cooperation in various fields to more comprehensive horizons.
