The
Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani
attended on Monday, 10 June 2019, part of the workshop on the GCC water
security, organized by the Secretariat economic and development sector, at the
GCC headquarters, in Riyadh; with the participation of a number of the GCC experts,
specialists and researchers in the field of water.
During the
session, the Secretary-General was briefed on the concept of water security, its main dimensions, and
indicators. As well as, the GCC unified water strategy, and the connection
between the security and economies of water and the ones of food and energy, In
addition to the private sector role in regards to water security issues.
The
Secretary-General praised organizing such an important workshop, stressing that
the GCC water security is a priority for their Majesties and Highness, leaders
of the GCC States, noting the important achievements made regarding the
provision of water in the Member States.
He also praised the participation of experts and specialists in the field
in this workshop, highlighting these issues and exchanging their views and
ideas in this regard.
