The Secretary General of the Gulf
Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani met on Friday, 12 April
2019, in Washington, and on the margins of the FATF Ministerial Meeting, HE Mr.
Andrew Little, New Zealand Minister of Justice.
During the meeting
they discussed the ongoing friendly and cooperative relations between both
sides, and means of developing them in various fields, in addition to issues of
common interests. They also discussed financing of terrorist organizations,
money laundering and human trafficking.
Dr. Al-Zayani thanked the New Zealand Minister of
Justice, and expressed his regret at the terrorist attack in Christchurch, New
Zealand, praising the resolute actions taken by the New Zealand Government
under the leadership of its Prime Minister, which has ensured the unity of New
Zealand society with all its components in the face of this tragic terrorist
crime. He stressed that terrorism has no homeland or a religion. He as well
stressed the necessity for the international community to cooperate to combat terrorism
and prevent terrorists from using technological means in their operations.
